Individual mindfulness meditation sessions
The individual mindfulness meditation sessions are a way to help practitioners deepen their meditation practice. Through guided meditation, the practitioners are invited to notice and name what they are experiencing in each moment, developing their ability to be with the diverse experiences that arise without reacting to them, with care and gentleness.
With this meditation, we expand our capacity to tolerate the experiences we are able to be with, without running away from or clinging to what is happening. It helps the practitioner stay with bodily sensations in the face of the natural tendency to get lost in thoughts. When we have sensations or feelings that are not pleasant—that are neutral or, to some extent, unpleasant—we tend to take refuge in thoughts. To free ourselves from tension, worry, or any other difficult emotion, we need to learn to be with those experiences. In this meditation, we do just that: we connect with the body and develop our ability to be with the emotions and beliefs we carry within it—and that shape us.
Unlike a guided meditation, in this individual meditation you’ll be asked throughout the session what you’re feeling, and you’ll be invited to be with your experiences in a kinder, non-reactive way. In these meditations, you’ll rapidly develop your ability to shift your internal state and return to a natural state whenever something upsets you or throws you off balance.
