Mindfulness meditation course
For four weeks, we will learn basic Buddhist meditation techniques to become aware of our breath, bodily sensations, emotions, and thoughts. These techniques allow us to connect with parts of ourselves that we often neglect. Being aware of our bodies makes us feel more connected to our own lives, more present. By feeling our emotions more clearly, we gain a better understanding of how they work and learn how not to be swept away by them when they are not serving our best interest. Noticing our thought patterns frees us from identifying with everything we think, allowing us to choose which thoughts to pursue and which to let go of. Mindfulness meditation opens us up to areas of our lives that we are not usually aware of and expands our window of tolerance, allowing us to break free from automatic reactions, among many other benefits.
